Cheryl Fragiadakis

           

Cheryl A. Fragiadakis is the Head of Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Management, at the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Berkeley Lab is the oldest U.S. National Laboratory, operated for the Department of Energy by the University of California. Berkeley Lab conducts unclassified basic and applied research and development in multiple disciplines including chemistry, biology, physics, engineering and computer science. Technology Transfer is responsible for industrial collaborations, patents, copyrights, licensing, marketing and business development. Under her leadership, the Department has licensed technologies resulting over 20 start-up companies in such fields as nanoscience, energy efficiency products, healthcare and computer software. They have also managed over a hundred research collaborations between private companies and the Berkeley Lab.

Ms. Fragiadakis previously worked as a senior manager for the Energy and Environment Division at Berkeley Lab. Before joining the Lab, she spent over 10 years working in the private sector for a major oil company as an engineer, economist, and operations supervisor.

Ms. Fragiadakis has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, and an MBA from the U.C. Berkeley Haas School of Business. She is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of California. She has served on the Steering Committee of the Bay Area Science Infrastructure Consortium, and the Executive Committee of the DOE Technology Partnerships Working Group; she currently is a member of the systemwide University of California Technology Transfer Advisory Committee.

She has spoken at national meetings of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC), the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) as well as at various local meetings including the IBF Early Stage Venture Investing Conference, and the Northern California Nanoalliance.

She was recognized as the Outstanding Manager at a National Lab in Technology Transfer, by the Department of Energy Technology Partnerships Group.
