The Molecular Foundry's Jeff Urban is the new Director of the Inorganic Nanostructures Facility. Jeff's group develops new materials and measurement tools for solid-state energy storage and conversion applications. Jeff has replaced Delia Milliron, who is now the Deputy Director of the Molecular Foundry. Delia's research focus on new functionality and reduction of manufacturing costs of nanomaterials-based energy technologies, and her group continues to lead efforts in fundamental chemistry of nanomaterials for device integration and characterization.
New Foundry Director: The Foundry is pleased to welcome Professor Omar Yaghi as our new Director. Yaghi, previously at UCLA, is a pioneer in the field of reticular chemistry. He will also hold a joint appointment with UC Berkeley's Chemistry Department.

The Molecular Foundry's Jim Schuck (left) will be the new Director of the Imaging and Manipulation of Nanostructures Facility. Jim's group has pioneered breakthroughs in nanoscale optical imaging and spectroscopy. Jim will be replacing Frank Ogletree (right), whose foresight in developing tools for multiple imaging modalities for soft and biological materials has resulted in the Foundry's unique strength in this cutting-edge area of research. »
Users' Meeting Announced: The Molecular Foundry and the National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM) will hold their joing Users' Meeting on October 5-6, 2011. Learn more.
Jim DeYoreo, Molecular Foundry Interim Director, has received the 2010 Laudise Prize for his contributions to the "technology and scientific basis of rapid growth of perfect crystals from solutions." Awarded every three years, the Laudise Prize honors significant technological contributions to the field of crystal growth.
Delia Milliron, Inorganic Nanostructures Facility Director, received the 2010 Mohr Davidow Ventures (MDV) Innovators Award. Delia also received the 2010 Early Career Research Program award for her work on nanocomposite electrodes for electrochemical energy storage and energy conservation.
